What is the difference between a DVR and a NVR?
A DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is a device used to record video footage from analog cameras, while an NVR (Network Video Recorder) is used to record video footage from IP cameras. DVRs are most commonly used when recording from analog CCTV cameras, while NVRs are typically used for IP cameras.
The two types of recorders differ in several ways. DVRs require a coaxial connection with the cameras, while NVRs are connected to the network through an IP address. DVRs have limited storage capacity, and cannot store video in high resolution quality, while NVRs can be equipped with hard drives with varying storage capacities. NVRs also have the ability to perform video analytics and are more secure than DVRs.
